Kid Mania!!!

There are many pleasures in life and photographing children happens to be one of mine. I’m going to try my absolute hardest NOT to make this a post about my own son, although I can’t promise. LOL!!!!! Now I know every mommy believes their kids are the cutest, so I’ll be featuring a ‘Cutest Kids’ edition periodically.

The innocence and pure joy kids possess is MEANT to be captured. Call me crazy but I want to remember these days; I snap at least one picture a day of my little one. (Notice I said at least one) *insert laugh here*

In honor of V-Day!

Children and ‘Couples in Love’ are my absolute favorite to photograph. In honor of Valentine’s Day I’ll showcase couples in this post. In my opinion, couples ‘in love’ exude candidness, truthfulness, sincerity, and the authenticity required for a great shot. It’s not easy to shoot couples that aren’t in love and to be forthright it’s like pulling teeth to get a smile or a kiss, NOT FUN! That is why I emphasize the IN LOVE part : )

During shoots, feeling like a fly on the wall or like I’m invisible tickles my fancy so here are a few couples that just blew me away in front of the camera. To simply capture 2 people in love creates awesome shots. You can’t fake love and their love radiates in their pictures. It does my heart well : )

Stumbling across great images

In the beginning, I took some REEEEALLY horrible images. But among the crappy photos were some great ones! I often go back and analyze my earlier photo shoots; doing this has facilitated my growth as a photographer. Although to look back at my firsts make me cringe, it's necessary for my development.

How I got bit by the photography bug!

So, I decided to let you into my life as a semi professional photographer. The reason I classify myself as a ‘semi professional’ is because photography is not my fulltime occupation (as much as I would LOVE to be a full time photographer)

So here’s my story:
In my ‘younger’ days I actually modeled for hair magazines and hair shows. The amount of fun I had was indescribable; however I was more interested in what the photographer was doing. I became downright annoying during photo shoots asking questions about cameras, lighting, and backdrops. I thought to myself ‘I can do that’, ‘I’m a creative mind’, and I believe 'I have the creative eye’.  With that mindset, modeling became a thing of the past and photography became my future : )

I'm a firm believer that my experience in front of the camera has allowed me to seamlessly transition into my role behind the camera. I must admit that I’m MUCH more comfortable behind the camera and creative control is my drug. Now, in no way am I stating that photography is easy, it’s an extremely technical craft and as a matter of fact I'm STILL learning. I remember I played with my Nikon D-40 for weeks before I took one shot. I was soooo afraid that I would suck! Now here I am 3 years later; just call me a Nikon Gangsta! haha!
